Yes, it turns out that another stay-at-home dad (I'll call him M) with a little girl almost exactly the same age as Abby lives about a block away from us. We met via the local neighborhood parents' support network. I must say that I am very pleased with this turn of events. We are planning another walk later this morning.
Abby was in pretty good spirits for most of the day. I continue to manage her sleep effectively, and I have learned that this makes a huge difference for her. She continues to be very talkative, but her conversation yesterday came mainly in the form of cooing. The trilling seems to be fading a little. It's gotten boring for her, perhaps?
Sadly, it looks like I am getting a little boring as well. Just last week, if I had her facing me, she was almost certainly looking at me. But now, she looks at her toys at least as much. I was feeding her breakfast, and I realized that she was looking eagerly at her playmat while she was eating. She loves her toys.
She has become very adept a rolling over, and she is able to do it quickly and by all appearances effortlessly. She is better rolling from back to front, but she's not at all bad at going the other way, as well.
A slice of life: I'm sure this is common behavior for little babies, but I want to remember it. When she was upset with something, she goes on a "bending strike." By this, I mean that she flexes her muscles so that she her legs and body are straight as a board, and she refuses to bend. It sounds silly, but it makes it impossible to do anything with her. You can't dress her, get a diaper on her or hold her comfortably. She doesn't do it much anymore, but when she was younger, it was quite effective. Of course, she couldn't hold the position for very long before she got tired.
