Yes, four months ago, Mommy and Daddy were awakened by the imminent arrival of our little girl. We rushed off to the hospital, and eight short (Mommy might disagree about them being short) hours later, there she was.
It's amazing how long ago that seems and how much she has changed. But at the same time, it seems like it was just yesterday.
Yesterday was a great day. The playgroup was well attended and Abby met six other babies. She was very talkative and made all of the other parents laugh with her baby roar. Everyone commented on how strong she is when she's on her belly and holds herself up. She also got dirty for the first time. The breeze picked up and blew some of the wood chips on the playground up onto her blanket, and she promptly got some of the dirt from them on her hands and face. I have to say that dirty babies are cute.
On the nap front, things took an interesting turn. She was very resistant to sleeping yesterday, so I had to put her down and let her cry. She cried for about 20 minutes, and get this. She stopped crying and started playing in the crib. She talked to the animals on the mobile and rolled happily around the crib. She did this for 40 minutes. At that point, it was time for her to eat again, so I had to pick her up to feed her. She took three swallows from the bottle and fell asleep in my arms. The little sneak! She managed to get me to hold her while she fell asleep. I have no idea how to deal with that.
I guess I underestimated her. She is four months old, you know.
