Now, she loves to play the up-and-down game in which Daddy raises her up above his head and lowers her down with great peals of squeals and laughter. Up and down, laugh and squeal. Laugh and squeal, up and down. Now you don't have to have great insight into parenthood to see where this is going. I had fed her a huge bottle (the full six ounces), but it had been a good hour since she'd finished eating. Anyway, a particularly exhuberent giggle-screech was punctuated by what, from my point of view, can only be described as an avalanche - a warm white wall of Abbinized formula. Abby and I looked at each other awkwardly in shocked surprise. And then she smiled from ear to ear and squealed mightily. I can't even say that I've learned a lesson. I will continue to play the up-and-down game because she loves it, and she's adorable even when she coats me with spit-up.
Mommy and Daddy made a couple of investments yesterday as well. We bought a pack-and-play, her first bathing suit and some baby sunglasses. We also bought her first solid food - rice cereal and sweet potatos. I'll be sure to post pictures of all this on Flickr.
And I'll be sure to wait an hour and 15 minutes before playing the up-and-down game.
